I’m at my neuro placement at present, which provides me with a great opportunity to learn. To learn how to perform a content based assessment on a patient, to learn how to do a problem based assessment and choose the appropriate treatment option and so on. It’s both challenging and demanding, and at times I would love to have more time to digest all the things that happen throughout the day. And then to be able to go into the next session and do it all better.
What I want to get to actually is, that we had an in-service on a very interesting topic over lunch time last week. It was very well presented and had also a practical aspect about it but all I could think sitting there was…I would love to have a lunch break and digest what I’ve learned this morning rather than being fed more stuff. Do any of you guys sometimes feel we get a ‘learning opportunity’ overload?

I think that’s a neuro for you…. Yes I think I know what you mean. What I have also experienced that same neuro physios are so passionate about their field that they get so full on explaining things and forgetting how much experience we had in this field. It’s quite normal that not all info can be digested in our overloaded brains.
Also sometimes I get caught up analysing very small things and missing out on big picture, which I think it’s most important for us at this present time. Good luck with the rest of the prac…
HI Edith,
I can really relate to what i've you are saying! I'm the type of learner that really likes to think about what I've just learnt and have time to discuss it with others and even try it out. I tool feel that there is little time to really integrate all of it into our practice. An argument could be made that this could be done once we are new grad and praticing, however, not if we don't remember the million and one brand new things that we just learnt!
